A Note of Thanks: Recognizing Your Support
Dear Peace River Art Club Members and Volunteers,
As we continue to navigate a particularly long and snowy winter here in Peace River, I have been reflecting on the incredible amount of work that has taken place behind the scenes since January. While we are all hopeful for an eventual change in season, the reality of these last few months has been defined by the steady, hands-on dedication of our volunteers and the continued support of our membership.
Recently, our Board of Directors has undertaken considerable work to pave the way for a more sustainable future for the Peace River ART HUB and the Peace River Art Club. We are finally at a point where we have finalized our Policies and Procedures. Beyond that administrative heavy lifting, we’ve successfully updated our digital workspace, completed and updated the 2026-2029 Strategic Plan, and secured both a new bookkeeper and a tech support contract to ensure our foundation remains professional and sustainable.
This work hasn’t stayed within our walls, either. The generosity of our artists allowed us to participate in the Peace River Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 Davis Awards by providing art for a live auction. On that evening the club was also presented with this years’ “Community Impact,” award. This is something we were deeply honoured to receive. Shortly after that, our club members continued to support our efforts by assisting with the 50/50 and the Silent Auction at the Alberta Pond Hockey Championships, you helped raise approximately $14,000 for the operations of the Peace River ART HUB!
On the financial side, we are also happy to announce that we have once again received funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. This support is vital to our goal of hiring staff to manage the ART HUB and ensures our long-term success.
The physical space of the ART HUB is also thriving. Our gift shop renovations are nearly complete, our lease spaces are full, and our regular programs and music events are moving forward steadily. We’ve also updated our brochures and refined our newsletters to better reflect the work being done here every day.
As we look toward the next few months, I encourage you to stay connected with our events and programs. If there are specific classes or workshops you would like to see added to our calendar, please reach out and let us know. Your suggestions ensure that our programming reflects what our membership actually wants to learn and create.
I also want to remind you to take full advantage of the perks that come with your membership, which you can review here: peacearthub.ca/prac-membership.
Thank you for the hours you give and the support you provide. It is the hard work of this community that keeps the Peace River Art Club moving forward, regardless of the weather outside.
Warm Regards,
Dianne Ireland, President, Peace River Art Club
