Become part of the Peace Region Arts & Culture community that is the Peace River Art Club

History

The Peace River Art Club was registered under the Societies Act on July 6, 1988, and has been functioning since as a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Local artists Geri France, Miriam Gair, Valerie Palmer, Jessie Rovang, Edna Bliss and Doreen Hutchisan signed the original application.

The club was originally established to teach and promote fine arts and to bring together artists within the community. Some of these early artists were well known in the international community as early as the 1950s.

We continue to promote and provide cultural and fine arts activities to members of the public throughout the Peace Region.

Who Are We?

The Peace River Art Club is located in the town of Peace River, Alberta, a rural community of seven thousand, with a catchment area of twelve thousand.

The Peace River Art Club has always encouraged creativity through expression of art. There are a wealth of artists and talents to be found in the Peace River valley and surrounding area and as such, we strive to provide services to the entire region. We are an inclusive community and welcome all ages and ability levels.

The Peace River Art Club offers a variety of art classes and hosts two art shows per year at the Peace River Municipal Library, showcasing many of the community and area artists’ masterpieces.

Today, the Peace River Art Club has expanded its vision to include visual arts -  drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpting in clay, glass and multi-mediums.  As well, the club has encouraged those who write, dance, sing and make music.

Peace River Art Club maintains healthy and evolving relationships in the community and we wish to expand on that concept by opening a fine arts centre in collaboration with municipal and corporate partners.

Mission Statement

Peace River Art Club is an organization which promotes building a community of artists and encourages participation in fine arts and cultural programming within the community and area.

Vision Statement

Peace River Art Club will provide cultural opportunities that promote and support the visibility of fine arts, connecting with other art communities.
