Sloane’s Room & Bursary
In memory of Sloane Maxine Elizabeth Morey-Wood
Sloane was a tiny, beautiful, feisty girl who came into the world for a short time. Her heart was so big and, in her short life, she positively impacted so many amazing people. Sloane was born on July 18, 2022 and passed away just one day later, on July 19, 2022.
The Peace River Art Club, with Sloane’s family, has established a bursary to keep Sloane’s legacy alive. Her family wrote, “The kindness we received after her journey was so incredible that words cannot describe how grateful we felt. She truly showed us how strong and beauitful this community of Peace River is. It’s not a town that makes a community - it is the people.”
Sloane’s family chose to pay it forward by helping others take part in the Peace River art community. By filling out a simple form, anyone can apply for assistance to pay for a course, for a membership, or a few art supplies to get help them get started on their art journey. Additionary, the bursary supports “Sloane’s Room” at the Peace River ART HUB.
Sloane’s Room is a place where children can come and make simple art projects, completely free of charge. There are art supplies in the room, and a whimsical mural by artist Destinee Sideroff adorning the back wall, waiting to inspire even the youngest artists.
