"'Racing Time' celebrates one of the many cultures here in Alberta. It is a nod to the traditions of a people who helped shape the west. A tradition that’s loved by young and old, and by people from all walks of life. This piece is a slightly contemporary, artistic take on a beloved North American past-time and a sliver of Albertan culture. It is an honour to preserve and celebrate this tradition, and I wish to thank my friend, Robyn Marion-Schreiber for being our muse and inspiration for this piece." - Lana Vassallo

Originally from the British Columbia Peace Country, but now residing near Peace River, Lana was raised on a cattle ranch where her love of nature, livestock, western culture, and preserving history took root. Any free time would be spent drawing, painting, reading, writing, working cattle or riding/breaking horses. Working primarily in oils, but dabbling in many other mediums, she sculpts her investment pieces in a photo-realistic style, staying true to the anatomical form of her subject.
Drawn to painting from a very early age, she has educated herself since that time,
never disregarding any information that came her way. With her lifetime of acquired knowledge in her tool belt, she honed her skill to what you see today. She uses these skills to honour nature, beauty, and history.

Currently a student at Peace High, Elizabeth has received instruction from many different artists throughout her life. Although she has practiced working in multiple mediums, her current focus is digital art, drawing, acrylic and writing. Character development is a passion of hers, and she has created many elaborate characters and numerous, in-depth back-stories. As she is passionate about character development, she has taught classes at the Art Hub, sharing her thoughtful approach with others. She is thrilled to have this opportunity to work
along side her artist mother and create a work of art that everyone can enjoy all year long.
