Meet our Artists: Tommy Marion

Artist Bio

Born in Winnipeg, Tommy Morion spent the majority of his last twenty-five years away from creating art but instead keeping  his creativity though building infrastructure. Change is Good .

Tommy’s work is currently on display at the ART HUB in the Private Artist’s room. From retro comic heroines to mysterious masquerade figures, the pieces in this collection completely transform under blacklight.

“The collection started when I was thinking about my mother,” said Tommy. “I wanted to combine my love for 1950's-1970's pre-code horror and romance comics while using modern techniques. The more I experimented the art changed with the type of light that was used. By making the blank speech bubbles, I wanted the viewer to mentally fill those spaces with their own perspectives. These light changing elements and blank speech bubbles are a way for the people who view my work to connect with it.”

About “Meet our Artists”

At the Peace River Art Club, our Board of Directors is focused on a clear goal: amplifying the reach of our member artists. We know how much talent lives in the Peace Country, and we want to make sure your work gets the spotlight it deserves. To make that happen, we’ve launched a new feature on the ART HUB website dedicated to sharing the stories, bios, and shops of the creators who make our club so vibrant.

Are you a member of the Peace River Art Club? Submit your artist’s bio, or simply a little bit about yourself and your art, to arthub@peacearthub.ca.
